Young business world will focus on overseas projects and export opportunities
Young Executives and Business People Association (GYİAD) announced the Expectations for 2019 Survey results carried out with the participation of its members. According to the survey, while the expectation on that the concerns in the economy continues, the young business world is considering to focus on the overseas projects and markets in 2019.
Young Executives and Business People Association (GYİAD) announced the results of the research where the expectations and assumptions of its members for 2019 are evaluated. In the Expectations for 2019 Survey, the questions such as the investment plans of the young business people, general expectations on the economy, dollar rate forecasts, inflation, etc. asked.
Around 50 percent thinks that balancing in economy will take time.
To the question, “How will 2019 be in terms of your business?”, 38,7 percent of the members said “Better than 2018”. When their expectations about the economy in 2019 are asked, 48,4 percent of the members stated that they think that the concerns in the economy will continue. In addition to this, the rate of the ones expecting balance and improvement is recorded as 25,8 percent. When looked at the growth expectations in Turkish economy for the following year, 35 percent of the members expressed that they are expecting a growth between 0-1 percent, on the other hand, the rate of the members with downsizing expectation was 29 percent.
Will be focused on overseas projects, new markets and new customers in export
GYİAD members lean towards making investment particularly overseas in the following year. To the question, “Are you planning to make new investments in the current and new business areas?”, one third of the members said yes. The focus areas of the companies in 2019 was another question of the survey. 32,3 percent gave reaching to customers answer to this question. The rate of the ones to focus on overseas projects was 29 percent, and the rate of the ones to focus on reducing cost was 25,8 percent.
Another topic that is on the agenda of the young executives and business people is the subjects to be prioritized for being solved in the following year. Whilst 35 percent of the members stated that the dollar rate must be stabled, 22,6 percent gave the invigoration of the internal demand. 19,4 percent answered as the solution of the payment and receivable concern.
The greatest risk besides economy is the concerns in the external policy
When the risks besides the economy are considered, the external policy lays on the agenda of the members. To the question, “What do you think is the most significant risk in the areas besides the economy in front of the targets of the companies in 2019?”, 35,5 percent of the members said important concerns in the external policy (with US, EU, Russia and Iran). When the expectations for the consumer inflation are considered, 61,3 percent of the members said 15-20 percent, and 32,3 percent said that they expect over 20 percent.
To the question, “What is your forecast for dollar rate at the end of 2019?”, the 64,5 percent of GYİAD members said 6,00 TL and more, and 25,8 percent of the members said between 5,50-6,00 TL.
We need serious reforms in education and law
Interpreting the survey, GYİAD Chairman Yiğit Savcı said, “When we look at the answers of our members to the survey, it is obvious that we need to work harder to survive our economy from such unsteady period. We need serious reforms in education and law especially to get rid of the middle income trap. In addition to these, we want to take the attention to the importance of strengthening our relations with the European Union and to make the customs union revision in the shortest time possible. Our country need a new transformation story, and it is seemed that this can be possible with the digitalization of the SMEs and the increase in the women employment. We, as the young business world, trust our country in 2019 and we are continuing to work under any condition.”
