“EU must not ignore the effort of Turkey in visa liberalization”

Young Executives and Business People Association (GYİAD) Chairman Yiğit Savcı pointed out the importance of the fulfillment of 72 criteria required to be completed for the realization of the Visa Liberalization Convention of Turkey. Stating that the relevant authorities in Turkey, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are spending intensive effort for the convention, Mr. Savcı said, “After this phase, the attitude of the EU authorities will be determinant. We believe that they will not ignore the constructive approach of Turkey.”

Young Executives and Business People Association (GYİAD) Chairman Yiğit Savcı made evaluations on the completion of the criteria foreseen for the realization of the “Visa Liberalization Convention” and the submission to the EU authorities.

Mentioning that the relevant authorities, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, are spending intensive effort for the convention that will grant free circulation right to the citizens of Republic of Turkey within the Schengen region, Mr. Savcı expressed that, as the young business world, they are glad of the completion of 72 criteria as a result of this effort.

Reminding that GYİAD is a non-governmental organization that adopted the improvement of the relations with EU - the greatest export partner of Turkey, as a principle and that they regulate this through their statute too, Yiğit Savcı said, “During the meetings we held with the Ambassadors of Germany, France and Belgium accordingly, we mentioned various subjects, particularly the visa liberalization. During our visits, we stated that focusing on the economy and trade, the removal of visa application for this, and the revision of the customs union convention will be very important steps. So the economy both in EU and Turkey will grow, and this will have serious contribution to the employment. Furthermore, these positive steps will strengthen the will of Turkey to be a full-member of EU, as well will bring positive effects to various areas from education to social life.”

Saying that the attitude of the EU authorities will be determinant from this phase, Mr. Savcı said, “We believe that they will not ignore the constructive approach of Turkey. For the sake of keeping the subject on the agenda and spreading the voice of the young business world through the ambassadors to EU, we will continue our contacts with the CEOs of EU origin companies in Turkey and the young business organizations in EU states.”
