A Call of Four-Articles from GYİAD to Presidential Candidates
Young Executives and Business People Association (GYİAD) Chairman Yiğit Savcı made a call for the presidential candidates, and said that should be focused on the economy immediately after the elections. Stating that they have set four agenda articles accordingly, Mr. Savcı proposed to abolish the state of emergency, strengthen the relations with the EU, bring VAT exemption to new technology-focused initiatives (start-ups) and to perform works on reducing youth unemployment.
Making a call for the presidential candidates and political parties on behalf of the Young Executives and Business People Association (GYİAD), Chairman Yiğit Savcı emphasized that the main agenda article after the elections should be the economy. Mr. Savcı said, “The economy should be the focus of our country in order to reach the targets in the new period that will begin after the election.”
In this context, saying that they think that four agenda articles should be taken as a basis in order to improve the investment environment, Yiğit Savcı said, “As the first step, we believe that ending the state of emergency will be very beneficial. Since the abolition of the state of emergency will play an important role in democratic terms as it will increase the confidence of foreign investors in our country, it will also play an important role in terms of economy.”
Negotiations with EU should continue
Mentioning that special importance should be paid for the development of relations with the EU - the largest export partner of Turkey, Mr. Savcı said, "A new page should be opened after the election and then uninterrupted continuation of the negotiations with the EU should be ensured. Of course, the EU side should not ignore the request of Turkey to be a member, and also support applications like speeding up visa liberalization. The full membership of Turkey will grow the economy of both parties. As the consumption and import-weighted growth figures point out, we need to increase exports. For this, we should focus on R&D and value-added products.”
Saying that “Another topic that should be put on the agenda immediately after the election is to provide financial facilities to new technology-oriented entrepreneurs, which is considered as start-ups,” Mr. Savcı continued his words: “Start-ups are the structures that can rapidly commercialize innovative ideas. The establishment of special technology taxpayers authority for these companies and providing them VAT exemption for a period of three years will ensure great advantages especially during the establishment stage and will help the entrepreneurship ecosystem of our country to get invaluable gains.”
Pointing out that the unemployment rate of the young population is getting close to 18 percent according to the data of March, Yiğit Savcı said, “There is a need for an emergency action plan to reduce youth unemployment. In order to enable our young population to play an active role in the business life and to prevent the brain drain, incentives like employment mobilization should be implemented. Furthermore, the reforms that will pave the way for foreign investors will be in place.”
